Stomach Cancer

The formation of cancer cells at the inner lining of the stomach is the cause of cancer. After some time these cells turns into tumour. This disease is also known as Gastric Cancer and it takes a long time to develop. It is very tough to treat if not diagnosed at the earlier stage.

Causes

The Medical research still doesn’t know the reasons of cancer cell formation in the stomach. They know the risk factors which cause this disease to grow fast. The infection causing bacteria is known as H. pylori, which develops sores. Some of the issues which can give you cancer are as below:

1. Gastritis is known as swelled gut.

2. Prolonged anaemia.

3. Polyps which is known as colon growth.

  • The urge to vomit

  • Decrease in appetite

The doctor will check you physically and will also go for tests. He may also check about your family history about the stomach cancer. The tests which he will do are as follows:

  • To check the symptoms of cancer he will do blood tests.

  • Gastroscopy to check the stomach condition through a tube which has a camera joined in it.

  • Upper Gastrointestinal test to get a clear view through X-rays.

  • The doctor can also take a CT-scan to get a detailed inner picture of your body.

  • He will do a Biopsy test which means to check the tissue from the affected area.

Treating the disease

Different kinds of treatments are available to treat this disease. It depends on the stage of the disease and the doctor to choose the treatment.

Option of surgery: The doctor may cut the cancer cells or tissues from your stomach. Surgery removes the cancer cells so that the cancer doesn’t spread in other parts of your body.

Option of chemotherapy: It is given in the form of drugs or pushed through (Intravenous) your vein. It is given through injections. Chemo takes some time.

Radiation therapy: High radiation can easily kill the cancer cells and decrease the development of cancer. It can be applied alone or can be applied with some other treatments.
