Appendicitis is a condition developed due to the disorder of appendix, a tube-like organ made of tissues in the abdominal cavity, near the intestines. Cases of acute appendicitis can be treated with the help of antibiotics which helps in eliminating the inflammations and swelling. However, chronic appendicitis demands surgery. The surgical procedure for removal of appendix is termed as appendectomy. The procedure involves the removal of appendix without causing rupture.
